Places to See

Abaco has so much to offer it could take you weeks to see all of it.  But take your time. We will be here for you when you need a break.  What you don’t see this time, you can see next visit.

And we can help you plan your days on the water.  Or provide you with a local guide who knows all the spots for fishing, snorkeling, shelling, beaching, island hopping and bar sampling.

Manjack Cay in the North has private beaches, areas for intimate picnics. A beautiful beach is on the ocean side.  And sting rays frequent the shallow bays.

Green Turtle Cay is only 25 minutes away from Treasure Cay and has the settlement of New Plymouth, gift shops, art and historical museums, restaurants, bars and beaches.  This Loyalist settlement is a must see.  And after touring the area you can stop off at the “sand bar” for a swim at a must see beach for swimming, shelling, star fish and sea biscuits.

No Name Cay is uninhabited and only 15 minutes away from Treasure Cay. A private beach is available for an intimate picnic or sun bathing.  On the ocean side of the island is a barrier reef for snorkeling or fishing.

Great Guana Cay is only 20 minutes away.  The North End offers some of the most spectacular beaches in the world.  And awesome snorkeling.  This end of the cay also offers two restaurants at Bakers Bay Marina.  Farther down Guana Cay you will find the famous Nippers for food, drink and fun.  The Sunday Nippers pig roast is a must do event, especially for the wild or adventurous.  Regular and frozen Nippers available. The Guana Cay settlement also offers gift shops and Grabbers.  Grabbers is the new spot for food, drink and fun. Try a Grabber on for size.

Fowl Cay sea park is about 35 minutes away and offers excellent snorkeling.  The large reef system may take a few days to cover, with abundant fish and sea life.

Man O War Cay is about 45 minutes from Treasure Cay.  This is a quaint settlement that has its roots set deeply in Bahamian history.  With an industrious boat building history that is several hundred years old.  And the Sail Shop is a must see for finely crafted bags and items proven to last many years. Man O War is a dry town, which also closes down on Sundays.

Elbow Cay, or Hope Town, is about 55 minutes from Treasure Cay.  But taking the scenic route is more fun.  Hope Town is the main settlement of Elbow Cay.  There you will find an historic light house, still operated by kerosene candle power, with views from its 116 foot height.  Also a must see.  The settlement offers an historic museum, gift shops and fine dining.  And awesome old Bahamian architecture.  On the ocean side, just a short walk from the harbour, are beautiful beaches and snorkeling just off the beach.

Marsh Harbour is about 45 minutes away from Treasure Cay.  Marsh Harbour is another popular destination but not for its beaches, but for its duty free shopping for liquor and jewelry.  And gift shops.  For a fantastic lunch we recommend Curly Tails at the Conch Inn Marina.  Complimentary docking here would permit some shopping after your meal and any the of the stores within walking distance.   And for a snorkeling experience worth seeing, stop by Mermaid’s Reef just North and East of the harbour fish abound.

Treasure Cay is an ideal location for your island adventures.  It is centered between the places to see in Abaco, and offers easy accommodations for those arriving either by boat or plane.  The Treasure Cay airport is only seven miles away, so a short taxi ride will have you in the resort in a few minutes.  Those arriving by sea can enjoy one of the most protected marinas in The Bahamas.  The Treasure Cay Hotel over looks the marina and offers ninety four rooms with boat slips at their back door.  There are also a wide variety of private homes and condos available for short or long term rentals.
